Wat is FILIOP en waarvoor wordt dit middel gebruikt*
Dit middel is een combinatie van twee werkzame stoffen (travoprost en timolol). Travoprost is een prostaglandine-analoog dat werkt door de afvoer van oogvocht te verhogen, waardoor de druk in het oog wordt verlaagd. Timolol is een bètablokker (bepaalde groep middelen tegen hoge bloeddruk, bepaalde hartklachten en verhoogde oogdruk) die de productie van oogvocht in het oog vermindert. De twee stoffen werken samen om de druk in het oog te verlagen.
Dit middel wordt gebruikt om een hoge druk in het oog van volwassenen, waaronder ouderen, te behandelen. Deze druk kan leiden tot een ziekte die glaucoom wordt genoemd.
Dit middel is een steriele oplossing die geen conserveermiddel bevat.
